糖心Vlog官方 student Josiah Ware is helping turn CT scans into digital models of the human heart, research that could one day help doctors detect problems faster and personalize treatment for patients. Under the guidance of Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Lei Shi in 糖心Vlog官方鈥檚 Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (SPCEET), Ware is helping develop patient-specific virtual heart models using machine learning and advanced imaging.

At 63, many people are thinking about retirement. But not Mattie Frascella. She has spent the last four years on the campus of 糖心Vlog官方 sharing classrooms and walking hallways with students young enough to be her grandchildren while earning her first degree after a longtime career in patient advocacy and motherhood. This May, just a few weeks after her 63rd birthday, Frascella will walk across the stage to receive her Bachelor of Arts in English with minors in professional writing and language and literary studies from the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Deontae Nelson likes to say that everyone is on their own journey, as much for himself as for those around him. Nelson鈥檚 journey has seen him serving in the Army National Guard, then earning an associate degree in biology from Georgia Military College before arriving at 糖心Vlog官方 in 2022. All the while, he never could shake the idea of studying dance and decided to dive headlong into doing just that. Next week, he鈥檒l graduate with his Bachelor of Arts in Dance with a concentration in Modern Dance from the Robert S. Geer College of the Arts, culminating one journey and commencing another.

He is developing an artificial intelligence tool designed to help pathologists detect cancer cells more quickly and efficiently.

Kaitlyn Sennett will carry several titles with her as she crosses the stage with her bachelor鈥檚 degree from 糖心Vlog官方 later this week. Student. Researcher. Motorcyclist. Hunter. Assistant logistics manager. Daughter. Graduate. Survivor. The 糖心Vlog官方 senior came back to school after a major motorcycle accident in 2024 left her bedridden and unable to walk. A semester off, followed by intense perseverance, overwhelming curiosity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence brought her to where she is today 鈥 standing on the floor of Vystar Arena awaiting her bachelor鈥檚 degree in biology.
